28/09/2022 (Staff Post - Iain Cunningham )
Local charity Shopmobility have secured a funding first with a donation of wheelchairs, thanks to an NHS portal.
The NHS Community Benefit Portal provides support to local groups and organisations from suppliers of NHS equipment.
Paisley based Shopmobility were selected by generous contractors Abicare Health Solutions, who funded two wheelchairs.
Karen Miller, Office Manager at Shopmobility Paisley and District said; “Thanks to the NHS Community Benefit Portal, we received funding for 2 brand new wheelchairs. They are already being hired out to local people with disabilities and mobility issues.
Karen added “We applied for a grant and were selected because mobility and disabilities is a priority area for Abicare business.
“We are delighted because we have also been offered a longer term supportive relationship with Abicare.”
Iain Cunningham, Social Enterprise Development Officer at Engage Renfrewshire said; “We are delighted that this donation and relationship has been developed. The wheelchairs are a first for a Renfrewshire Social Enterprise – Shopmobility applied and successfully attracted a sponsor.”
The NHS Community Benefit Portal is regularly promoted to the Renfrewshire Social Enterprise Network (RenSEN) via a weekly newsletter assisted by Engage Renfrewshire, who help contractors fulfil their community benefit requirements. Engage also support local social enterprise development.
