Kind hearted contractors’ donations deliver a clean sweep to local causes

01/07/2022 (Staff Post - Iain Cunningham )

Long established family business, electrical and mechanical contractors A. Alexander & son have supported local causes with the help of Engage Renfrewshire.

The generous local contractor donated a cheque, staff resources and materials worth in excess of £1,000’s of pounds to both Thorn Athletic AFC based in Johnstone and Kipco a local community hub in Kilbarchan.

Alexander’s have been assisted by Engage Renfrewshire, who help local contractors to fulfil community benefit requirements - part of the tendering and procurement process that Renfrewshire Council includes when awarding contracts to suppliers. Engage also support local social enterprise development.

Mark McGee from Thorn Athletic AFC said; “a huge thanks to the Alexander Group for supplying and fitting ten new showers in our home and away changing areas, this was a much needed upgrade we had been wanting to do for a while but did not have the resources. We very much appreciate the fantastic financial and in-kind support provided by companies like A. Alexander & son. That made this possible”

William Beattie from Kipco said; we’re delighted that A. Alexander & son were able to upgrade our CCTV and make safe our in house electrical systems. This will ensure the safety & wellbeing of our staff and centre users as we go about our services both inside and outside in the garden grounds”

Stewart Alexander, managing Director, from A. Alexander & son said; “As part of our contracts we are committed to offering a flexible approach to all our projects, this includes providing quality and professional community benefits to worthy local social enterprises”.

Iain Cunningham, Third Sector Development Officer from Engage Renfrewshire said; “We are very fortunate to work alongside companies like A. Alexander & son who understand and take community benefits seriously and are keen to ensure that they provide the best support possible”
