Invitation to join your Local Partnership as a community representative
19/03/2024 (Engage Post )
Local Partnerships were established in Renfrewshire in 2019 as a new model of community level governance, and a review has been underway throughout 2023. This review was concluded earlier this year, with a new phase of Local Partnerships agreed. You can read about this here.
As part of this development, it is now time to refresh the community representative membership of Local Partnerships.
Local Partnerships have an equal number of spaces for Renfrewshire Council Elected Members and community representatives. Some of the community representative spaces are reserved for active Community Councils, who have recently held elections and appointed members to Local Partnerships. The remaining spaces are for community representatives from voluntary and community groups in the area.
It is for the remaining community representative spaces that applications are now being invited.
There are seven Local Partnerships in Renfrewshire, as follows:
· Erskine, Inchinnan, Bishopton and Langbank
· Gleniffer
· Johnstone & Linwood
· Paisley East
· Paisley North West and Central
· Renfrew
· The Villages
As a member of an active community or voluntary group you may be interested in applying to become a community representative in Local Partnerships yourself. You may also know someone else in your organisation, or another organisation, who might be interested in the role. If you can share the information as widely as possible with your community contacts that would be appreciated.
The application form with more information about the role of community representatives on Local Partnerships is attached to this email for your convenience.
The process for appointing Community Representatives will be:
1. Applications will open on 18 March until 02 April. People who are interested in becoming Community Representatives will fill out a simple application telling the Local Partnership about what they could bring to a Local Partnership
2. The standing members of each Local Partnership (elected members and community councils) will then meet to appoint Community Representatives for the next term at their meeting in April.
3. The new Community Representatives will receive an induction before their first Local Partnership meeting.
Thank you for your help in considering and sharing the information about community representation on Renfrewshire’s Local Partnerships.
