Police Recruitment BME Engagement
The Positive Action Team will be hosting an online recruitment event during Race Equality Week to encourage people from ethnic minority backgrounds to consider a career in policing. People who sign up for the online Teams session will learn about our recruitment process, the training involved, the role of a police officer and the opportunities available in Police Scotland.
There are well documented barriers to some people applying to join the police service. We will therefore run a number of different recruitment events, like this one, to answer specific questions from people from diverse communities. This is to make sure everyone has fair access to the Police Scotland recruitment process.
The consent, support and cooperation of our fellow citizens lies at the heart of the identity and legitimacy of policing in Scotland.
To ensure the bond is as strong as possible, we must fully represent and reflect the communities we serve. Inclusion is an operational necessity and morally the right thing to do. We are committed to increasing the number of officers and staff from under-represented groups.
If you know anyone you think would like to know more, please send the details to your networks or look out for posts on social media to share.
The event will be on Microsoft Teams and will take place on:
Tuesday, 7 February, from 6.30pm – 8.30pm.
Anyone interested can email: recruitmentpositiveactionteam@scotland.police.uk

Workshops on implementing Time Space Compassion in practice
The team supporting the implementation of the Time Space Compassion - three simple words, one big difference Report are delighted to announce a series of Time Space Compassion on-line workshops, planned for Feb/March.
We are offering three workshops, with each one focused on how Time Space Compassion shows in different setting we know people seek help and access support. Each session will follow a similar format, so
Please use the links below to access further information and book onto the ONE session that best describes the setting you work in; and
help us spread the work and word – sharing with colleagues and partners who you think would value the opportunity to take part and contribute.
The aim of the workshop series is to gather people working in similar settings, to explore and share experiences on what it takes to offer Time Space Compassion in practice – where you see it, what it takes and the practical things you do to keep it at the heart of what you do. We will also use the sessions to bring you up to date on the latest learning and work on the Time Space Compassion approach. The learning and practices shared through the sessions will be used to form new resources to support Time Space Compassion in practice – including practice guides, further events and research.
