The Happiness Fund is available to enable and support projects which improve mental health and wellbeing, inclusion, learning and skills development in local communities. Find out more here

 

Grants of up to £3,000 Available to Charities Supporting Vulnerable & Disadvantaged People 
The Leathersellers Company is seeking applications from small charities who are providing vital services for vulnerable people in deprived communities across the UK. The Small Grants Programme will award grants of up to £5,000 to organisations with an annual income of less than £200,000. Partnerships are encouraged. The number of applications will be capped and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. The Committee will meet regularly to ensure charities receive a decision within a month of submitting their application. Applications are now open for 06 February 2023 committee meeting.  Submissions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the first 45 applications have been received.  Find out more here

 

Grants to Improve and Develop Allotments 
Grants of between £250 and £2,000 are available to registered Allotment Associations and committees across the UK for the improvement and development of facilities on registered and permitted sites. The funding is being made available by the National Allotment Gardens Trust which aims to advance and improve the Allotments/Gardens movement through education, training, workshops and support. Non-statutory sites may also be granted funding if a long-term lease is in place. Applications will be assessed by the Board of Trustees on a quarterly basis. Grants of up to £20,000 Available to Charities to Supporting Vulnerable People through the Cost of Living Crisis
The Bank of Scotland Foundation has announced that its Reach Programme has reopened to applications.  Registered Charities in Scotland can apply for grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 for one year projects to support disadvantaged people and people suffering social exclusion. This can include people suffering as a result of the cost of living crisis, homelessness, abuse, mental health or poverty, or secondary disadvantage such as debt issues, learning disabilities, illiteracy, lack of employability skills or health issues, etc. To be eligible, charities will need to have an income of below £1 million per annum. The Foundation has also announced it is providing almost £1,000,000 of additional financial support to Scotland’s Third Sector to help charities through the cost of living crisis. This will enable them to provide more grants throughout the remainder of this year, as well as providing extra support to their current grantees. The closing date for applications is 12 noon on 10 January 2023.  Find out more here

 

Funding for Financial Life Skills Projects
Not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £7,500 for projects that enhance the financial life skills of people across the UK. The funding which is being made available through the MSE Charity's grants programme will support groups that help to improve and deliver personal financial skills to families, children, and young people, including schools-based work, family outreach services, and support for migrants, lone parents, and victims and survivors of domestic abuse. The closing date for applications is 31 January 2023, or earlier if the charity has accepted forty applications. It is advised to apply early in the month.  Find out more here

 

Grants of up to £75,000 Available to Modernise Village Halls
Village halls across England can now apply for grants of between £7,500 and £75,000 to improve and modernise their facilities up to a maximum of 20 per cent of eligible project costs. The Platinum Jubilee Village Hall Fund has been launched in England to provide capital grants to improve and modernize their facilities. The fund is managed by Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) and aims to support around 125 village halls over a three-year period. The fund will be open to applications from projects that aim to improve the local environment, reduce rural loneliness, support the rural economy, and contribute to community life. The grants will be used to support infrastructure improvements, refurbish facilities such as kitchens and toilets, and improve energy efficiency. The application window for the fund will close on 20 January 2023.  Find out more here

 

Grants of up to £20,000 Available for Projects that Bring About Long term Community Change
Grassroots community organizations in the UK can apply for grants of between £2,500 and £20,000 for projects aimed at achieving long-term change through community organising, campaigning, and democratic engagement. These grants are intended for organisations that are based in and accountable to their community, but lack the resources to achieve their goals. The Civic Power Fund prioritises organisations led by individuals who have firsthand experience of the injustice they are trying to address. In addition to financial support, successful applicants will also receive support from the Civic Power Fund Governance Hub and may have the opportunity to participate in capacity-building programs. Pink Ribbon Foundation Grants 

The Pink Ribbon Foundation has announced that it is currently accepting applications to its grant making programme. Grants of up to £6,000 are available to UK charities and constituted not for profit organisations to support practical projects and initiatives, which aim to deliver good physical and mental health to individuals with and recovering from breast cancer.  Higher grants may be awarded if the trustees feel there is a special reason to do so. The closing date for applications is the 26 May 2023.

Grants to Support Work which Improves Financial Wellbeing

Charities, voluntary organisations, think tanks, campaigning groups, research bodies and universities can apply for grants of between £10,000 and £200,000 for strategic work that improves the living standards and personal finances, especially for those on low-to-middle incomes. 

The Financial Fairness Trust’s grant programme is looking to support proposals from organisations across the UK seeking funding for policy work, campaigning and research focused on three areas that influence financial wellbeing: income; spending; and assets. These might include wages, pensions and taxation, gambling, borrowing and repayment problems, and savings. Between fifteen and twenty grants are awarded each year and priority is given to work focusing on younger generations. The deadline for applications is 1pm on the 6th February 2023.

Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust  

The Trust gives grants to registered charities that work in the UK. They focus on specific priorities every year. All grant rounds in 2022 will focus on the arts: - Grant rounds 1 and 2: Rehabilitation of prisoners, ex-prisoners and those at risk of offending. - Grant rounds 3 and 4: Children and young people in care and care leavers. TRIO of SCIO – learn how to form/convert to a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation 

3 in-person morning workshops held at Engage Renfrewshire – please note these workshops are only open to groups operating in Renfrewshire

Workshops will cover the following: 

Session 1 - SCIOs Explained 

This workshop provides an in-depth look at the SCIO (Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation), a legal form for charities with a head office in Scotland.  The workshop will focus on the key features as well as provide guidance on how you form a new SCIO or convert your existing charity into a SCIO.  The workshop will highlight the considerations during the lifecycle of a SCIO from incorporation to wind up.    It will also provide practical information about the application to become a SCIO. 

Session 2 - Trustee Roles and Responsibilities 

This workshop will explore up-to-date Scottish charity legislation regarding trustee’s roles and responsibilities. The workshop will explore some of the other specific duties that apply to Trustees and what makes an effective trustee.   The workshop will also set out best practice when it comes to managing your charity. 

Session 3 - Charity Trading 

This workshop will look the rules on charitable trading, the tax and charity law position, as well as exploring the use of trading subsidiaries in line with charity law and the governance considerations needed.  In particular: 

when a charity can, and cannot trade 
what is primary purpose trading 
key features of a wholly owned, non-charitable trading subsidiary 
practical issues around tax, risk management and governance

The Let's Talk About Mental Health training raises awareness of ill-mental health. It will increase understanding of mental health conditions and of our own mental health. 

The session promotes positive mental health and aims to help build an environment for people to feel able to talk openly about mental health. The session content includes:

A basic understanding of mental health conditions. 

Recognise the causes, signs and symptoms. 

What support is available. 

Recovery.

Easy Fundraising Information Session

Invest in Renfrewshire External Funding Support Webinar - January 2023 

The Invest in Renfrewshire Communities Team host monthly webinars on External Funding Support available for Renfrewshire third sector groups.  The focus is on the wider Invest in Renfrewshire programme updates and current grant programmes that are open to third sector groups and the type of support available to groups when completing draft funding applications.  The webinar will help assist constituted third sector groups to clearly demonstrate their economic and social benefit, evidence longer term sustainability as well as articulate the impact their proposed projects will have. In addition to this, the monthly webinars cover wider support available from the Invest in Renfrewshire team including further information and updates on the Invest in Employability updates and the Invest in Business Net Zero Business grant.
