Why SURE?
SURE stands for Support. Understand. Recover. Empower and it's what we hope this fund will be all about.
We’re especially keen to hear about ideas that give people the chance to build new skills, try something different, volunteer, or simply connect with others. We’re also interested in creative approaches that engage young people, challenge stigma, and open up positive, honest conversations about alcohol and drugs.
Above all, we want to support activity that reduces harm, supports recovery and wellbeing, values lived and living experience, and helps create safer, stronger and more connected communities for the long term.
Who is supporting this?
Renfrewshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) brings together partners to reduce the harms caused by problematic alcohol and drug use.
As part of their ongoing commitment to applying a community led approach the ADP will work in partnership with Engage Renfrewshire to deliver a community grants programme (The SURE Fund) supporting grass root responses to preventing and reducing alcohol and drug related harm in Renfrewshire.
SURE Fund projects chosen - Announcement from ADP Summer Update 24/7/2026
Fourteen grassroots community projects have been successful in their funding bids from the Renfrewshire SURE Fund
Delivered by the Renfrewshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) in partnership with Engage Renfrewshire, the SURE Fund is designed to support community‑led, grass‑roots activity. Grants of up to £20,000 are available to help build community resilience, support recovery and wellbeing, and strengthen connections for people, families and communities affected by alcohol or drug use.
The fund places a strong emphasis on lived and living experience, trauma‑informed and person‑centred practice, and empowering communities to shape local solutions. Eligible projects can include peer‑led recovery spaces, creative or wellbeing activities, awareness‑raising work, family support and volunteering opportunities.
Dr Alan McNiven, Chief Executive of Engage Renfrewshire, said: “The Renfrewshire SURE Fund demonstrates the potential of investing early and trusting locally focused activities. When the opportunity is there, Renfrewshire’s Third Sector organisations act quickly, think creatively, and reach people when support matters most — strengthening communities and changing lives. The approach of the Renfrewshire SURE Fund is proof of what a strong partnership can set out to achieve.”
Donna Reid, Renfrewshire ADP co-ordinator, added: “We are delighted that there has been so much interest in the SURE Fund and we look forward to working with the successful applicants and projects.”
