14/02/2024
11am - 12pm
There's going to be a UK General Election sometime this year...
We're keen to hear what policy changes social entrepreneurs want to see from the next UK Government - and we want to ensure that social enterprise solutions are a top priority for all the political parties.
What reserved policy changes would most benefit your social enterprise and the people and communities you work for?
Social Enterprise Scotland is also now part of the UK-wide Future Economy Alliance for the UK General Election.
Policy powers that have a UK or international impact are the responsibility of the UK Parliament, known as reserved matters. Reserved matters are set out in Schedule 5 of the Scotland Act 1998.
Reserved matters include:
- benefits (some aspects)
- betting and gambling
- broadcasting
- constitution (some aspects)
- consumer protection policy
- currency
- data protection
- defence and national security
- equality legislation (most aspects)
- energy (most aspects)
- elections to the UK Parliament
- employment law and industrial relations
- financial services
- foreign affairs
- immigration, asylum and visas
- nationality and citizenship
- postal services
- taxation (some aspects)
