Community Wealth Building

The Scottish Government has recently launched a consultation on Community Wealth Building Legislation. Community Wealth Building (CWB) is an approach designed to tackle long-standing economic challenges and transform Scotland’s local and regional economies by considering the ways in which the public sector, in partnership with the private, third and community sectors, can ensure more wealth is generated, circulated and retained in communities and localities.
For Community Wealth Building to work, communities need to be a part of this approach and have their voices heard. Social enterprises are already doing what CWB aims to achieve and often have a bigger stake in the local community, so it's crucial that they're involved in this consultation process. For more information on what CWB is, please read our latest blog.
Over the coming months, we will be holding a series of sessions on CWB to ensure social enterprises are both informed and heard in the process. This session will provide you with an opportunity to hear from Tom Arthur MSP, Minister for Public Finance, Planning and Community Wealth who will set out the Scottish Government’s ambitions for Community Wealth Building. There will then be a Q&A and an opportunity to give feedback on the changes required to accelerate the implementation of the approach in Scotland.
If you have any questions, or if you are unable to make this session and would like to feed into our response, please contact Duncan Thorp to arrange a chat.
