10am - 12.30pm
White privilege is being able to assume that racial inequality does not exist because it doesn't affect you.
If you’re looking to understand what white privilege means and how it enable us to challenge racism more effectively then this seminar will give you an insight into white privilege and how to challenge racism in the context of the current climate and black history.
IN-Ren and Engage Renfrewshire are delighted to host two free online training seminars through Microsoft Teams. The aim of the seminars is to give participants an understanding of what white privilege is, and how it can present itself. It will also provide an understanding of various forms of racism, as well as racial bias and the issues affecting black people.
The seminars will cover:
• An introduction to communities in the area
• Defining White Privilege
• The impact on black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities
• Reflecting on our behaviors.
The seminar will examine systemic racism, what it is and how it can impact our everyday lives. It will also explore what good allyship looks like and how people can work towards this to create a fairer society for all.
Training is provided by CEMVO Scotland.
Handouts and training materials will be circulated to those that attended the session after the training finishes.
