Renfrewshire Wellbeing Network - June Newsletter

Renfrewshire Wellbeing Network's Walk and Talk in Robertson Park in Renfrew

Welcome

Dear Renfrewshire Wellbeing Network,

I hope you are all well!

This week is Men's Health Week, which is an acknowledgement of the unique barriers that many men face when it comes to taking care of themselves and their own health. A big part of this is looking after one's mental health. Statistically, men are more likely to die by suicide and less likely to seek out support when they are going through difficult times. You can read more about the statistics on Mental Health Foundation's Website (some people may find the content triggering).

We are lucky to have some great organisations supporting men's mental health in Renfrewshire. No Substitute Men's Group are based in Ferguslie and host lots of outdoor activities, while promoting men's mental health. We also have no less than four Men's Sheds in the area- Paisley, Renfrew and Houston/Killellan Kirk, and the recently opened Lochwinnoch. Andy's Man Club is a peer-to-peer support group who meet every Monday at Station 7 in Johnstone.

Remember, if you or someone you know is struggling with their mental health support is available: Samaritans: 116 123, RAMH: 0800 221 8929, or text SHOUT to 85258
