Join us on 20 August for our ‘Supporting Young Volunteers’ Development Day. This development day is aimed at Volunteer Managers and co-ordinators in Renfrewshire who directly support – or whose organisation supports – young people.
We are delighted to have presentations from Ygam (Young Gamers & Gamblers Education Trust), a smoking and vaping awareness workshop hosted by Renfrewshire HSCP and finally NilbyMouth – whose session will explore how volunteer managers and co-ordinators can support staff and volunteers to navigate issues around religion and belief in Scotland, with a particular focus on sectarianism and its impact on communities.

Exciting news for Scotland’s Voluntary Sector! The new governance wiki is now live, it’s a free easy to use platform offering guidance on governance, compliance, board roles and more. The governance wiki builds on pre-existing work undertaken by volunteer Edinburgh on Volunteer Wiki. It brings together clear, accessible guidance on a wide range of governance topics that are often relevant to managing volunteers – from policies and procedures to safeguarding and trustee responsibilities. The site offers trustworthy, jargon-free information that can support good practice and help you feel more confident in your decision-making.

Do you want to help people in Renfrewshire access equal opportunities and feel confident about getting involved in their community?
We’re currently recruiting Volunteer Mentors to support local adults as they take their first steps into volunteering. This flexible, person-centred role involves meeting weekly with someone new to volunteering – helping them get to know an organisation, supporting with travel arrangements, and offering encouragement along the way.
You’ll receive full training, regular support and the chance to connect with brilliant community groups across Renfrewshire. If you’re friendly, patient and passionate about helping others build confidence, we’d love to hear from you!

Shopmobility Paisley have been celebrating the amazing contributions of their youngest helpers. Caleb and Dylan joined the team during the summer holidays. They have been helping clean scooters and support customers – proving you’re never too young to make a difference. Caleb’s Mum is the office administrator at Shopmobility and has been grateful for the extra hands!
A lovely example of family volunteering in action and a great way to build confidence and community spirit from an early age.
