Volunteering Focus -11 February
Welcome to the latest edition of our Volunteering Focus Newsletter!
Inside, you’ll find a heart‑warming Valentine’s message for your volunteers, important sector updates, opportunities to get involved, and ways to keep growing your practice in 2026.

A Valentine’s Message for Your Volunteers
Valentine’s Day isn’t just about romance—it’s a reminder of the kindness, compassion, and care that make our communities flourish. Here are a couple of uplifting quotes you can share with your volunteers:
“Your kindness makes a real difference in the lives of others.”
“Every act of service you offer is a gift of love to your community.”
A simple message can go a long way—why not send a little appreciation today?
Thank you to everyone who has already completed our questionnaire—your input is proving incredibly valuable as we plan support for Volunteer Managers across Renfrewshire.
If you haven’t yet taken part, the questionnaire is still open. Results will be shared in our next newsletter.

The UK Government has launched a consultation on a proposed “earned settlement” model. Under this system, settlement would no longer be automatic after a set period—individuals would instead need to demonstrate good conduct, contribution and integration.
Voluntary Sector Leaders from across the UK have expressed deep concern over the proposed migration policy, linking volunteering to the right to live permanently in the UK. You can read more and access the consultation via GOV.UK.
