Volunteering Focus - 06 November

As we celebrate Trustee’s Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the invaluable contributions of our trustees—dedicated volunteers who bring their passion, expertise, and commitment to guide and strengthen Engage Renfrewshire.

Trustees play a vital role in ensuring good governance and setting the direction for the work we do across our communities, supporting local charities, community groups, and initiatives that make Renfrewshire a vibrant place for all. In this special edition, we’ll be sharing inspiring stories from our trustees, highlighting the rewards of trusteeship, and offering insights for anyone interested in making a difference as part of our board. Join us in celebrating the impact of our trustees and discover how you, too, can contribute to building a stronger, more connected community!

Jane and I are buzzing to attend the 12th annual Positive about Youth Awards, the sold out youth celebration event will honour the outstanding qualities of young people aged between 12 and 25 in Renfrewshire. It is a unique chance for the young people of Renfrewshire to feel appreciated and recognised for their hard work and achievements, which otherwise may go unnoticed. The Positive About Youth Awards are a night of celebration for an age group which for many is often misjudged and is portrayed in a negative way. This year Engage are sponsoring the Volunteer of the Year Award.

Youth VIP

Youth VIP are looking to engage with as many Young People as possible to find out exactly what differences have been made since the last Young Persons survey carried out 5 years ago…What is different, how can we capture, support and share these results after the survey to continue building on the changes for the future of all involved.
Please share this (link below) with as many Young People, partners, funders and organisations who work with and involve Young People as possible. It only takes a few minutes for a Young Person to complete, they get rewarded upon completion and help us get the biggest, most meaningful response for action that we have ever had!

Caring Scotland is a far-reaching oral history project created by the National Theatre of Scotland(NTS) that will document the lives and experiences of at least 100 members of the care experienced community in Scotland. The project aims to raise the profile, celebrate the achievements and foster empowerment of the care experienced community and is inspired by the practice of playwright and socially engaged theatre-maker, Nicola McCartney.

As a key part of the project, they are inviting the care experienced community to connect and to tell their story. Working with a group of artists we’ll record these stories, and this collection will be stored forever at the National Library of Scotland as well as featuring on the NTS website for everyone to connect with and listen to.

Throughout 2026-2027 we will be touring an interactive installation and photographic exhibition, inspired by the care experienced community we meet around Scotland, which will be free to attend.

The project will be delivered by NTS in partnership with Who Cares? Scotland and the National Library of Scotland, funded with an award from The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
