Engage Update - 30 June

Join us on 20 August for our ‘Supporting Young Volunteers’ Development Day. This development day is aimed at Volunteer Managers and co-ordinators in Renfrewshire who directly support – or whose organisation supports – young people.

We are delighted to have presentations from Ygam (Young Gamers & Gamblers Education Trust), a smoking and vaping awareness workshop hosted by Renfrewshire HSCP and finally NilbyMouth – whose session will explore how volunteer managers and co-ordinators can support staff and volunteers to navigate issues around religion and belief in Scotland, with a particular focus on sectarianism and its impact on communities.

CMHW Fund

In February 2025 the Scottish Government announced that the CMHW Fund for Adults would now be delivered as part of a multiyear programme of delivery.

The opportunity to grant funding across two years has arisen as part of the Scottish Government’s Fairer Funding pilot, part of the government’s commitment to deliver fairer funding for the third sector. The pilot has been set up to provide more certainty and allow for longer-term planning, aiming to improve stability and cost-efficiency for community organisations and services.

We have updated the funding guidance accordingly and all information is now available on the Engage Renfrewshire website

We will also be hosting information sessions about the updates. Whether you've applied before or are completely new to the fund, these sessions are your chance to:

  • Understand what multi-year funding means for your project or service
  • Get clear guidance on the application process
  • Ask questions directly and explore how your organisation can benefit

The 1 hour sessions are both in person and online and will be on:

  • 02 July  11am-12pm
  • 04 July  6pm-7pm

Click below to register to attend a session, and please share this invitation with colleagues and partner organisations who may also be interested.

Bus 340 Royal Alexandra Hospital to Vale of Leven Hospital

This new NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) service replaces the service run by the bus company. This transport service is available for NHS staff and patients with an appointment at the Vale of Leven Hospital (VoLH) or the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).

Patients should provide proof of an appointment to access the service. Carer companions may also travel with patients. This service will not be accessible to the public, including visitors. This new service will travel directly between the VoLH and the RAH. This service will not make any other stops.

The new NHSGGC service will launch on Sunday 29th June.

You can email ggc.patientexperience@nhs.scot or use the following online form at Share Your Feedback – NHSGGC.

NHSGGC will be evaluating the service over the next few months and welcome your feedback.

Scottish Palliative Care Guidelines

Healthcare Improvement Scotland is reaching out to invite expressions of interest from members of the public and people with lived experience of palliative or end-of-life care to take part in the development of the Scottish Palliative Care Guidelines.

These guidelines are used by health and social care professionals across Scotland to support safe, compassionate, and person-centred care. We are currently reviewing and updating the section on “Last Days of Life: Severe Uncontrolled Agitation or Delirium”, and your voice could make a real difference in shaping how care is delivered at one of the most sensitive times in a person’s life.

Why your involvement matters
By sharing your lived experience, you can help ensure the guidance:

  • Reflects what matters most to people receiving care and their families
  • Uses clear, compassionate, and inclusive language
  • Balances clinical evidence with experiences

What we mean by “lived experience”
This includes anyone who has experience of palliative care including people who have supported a loved one through this experience or been bereaved following end-of-life care

What’s involved
You would join a group that meets approximately every 6 weeks (virtually), with an average time commitment of around 2 hours per week. You’ll be supported throughout, and any time you can give is genuinely appreciated.
We welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences. No formal qualifications are needed—just a willingness to share your perspective and work collaboratively.

If you are interested or would like to find out more, please contact his.signpublicandpatientinvolvement@nhs.scot We would be grateful if you could express your interest by COB on Thursday 24 July.
