On Thursday 7 May 2026, there will be an election to the Scottish Parliament.
The Electoral Commission's Guide explains what you need to know before the election and tells you where you can find more information.

Free Tickets for Community groups - Braehead Football World Cup Fanzone
As Scotland's men's national football team heads off to the USA to compete in the Football World Cup this June, Braehead Arena have organised 2 very special Fanzone events for spectators to enjoy the build up to, and the game itself in a party atmosphere.
Renfrewshire Council have been given 190 seated tickets and 10 accessible tickets (5 spaces + 5 companion) in total, to give away to Renfrewshire based community groups, for each of the following games:
- Scotland v Morocco, Friday 19th June, doors at 6pm, kick off 11pm, ends at 2am
- Scotland v Brazil, Wednesday 24th June, doors at 6pm, kick off 11pm, ends at 2am
If you are interested in obtaining tickets for your community group, please read the information below carefully to ensure the opportunity is suitable, and complete this form by Thu 21st May.

Tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Due to the limited number of tickets, we have available unfortunately we may not be able to accommodate all requests.
Please note we have been given physical tickets that we will give out to you to distribute to your group.
Details:
- A huge night of football, noise, and national pride as we rally behind Scotland.
- These will be nights to remember featuring entertainment hosted by Chris Forbes (the third Murray brother), DJ, live music, live podcasts and live broadcast on Premier Sports with a panel of Scotland Legends
- Doors open at 6pm, kick off at 11pm, ends at 2am.
Age restrictions:
- Please note this event is 14+ years only
- All 14-17 years must be accompanied by an adult 18+ (max 2 x 14-17 year olds per adult)
Accessible seats:
- We have 10 accessible tickets available (5 spaces + 5 companion) in total
- The accessible seats are fold out chairs so they are suitable for wheelchairs users and those who can't manage stairs
- The arena uses the accessible facilities contained within Braehead Shopping Centre, with full access to these facilities during the event. More detail can be found here: https://braehead.co.uk/visit-us/

Food & drink:
- Food and drink packages are chargeable once inside the venue.
- Food and drink purchased outside the venue, cannot be brought into the arena.
- Please note that the arena will be licensed, with alcohol being sold during the event.

Big Art Show 2026.
The Art Department, Paisley Ltd are announcing a CALL FOR ENTRIES for the Big Art Show 2026.
Taking place for a 5th year in The Art Department, Paisley. The show will open on Sat 29th August and run until Sat 14th November 2026 at our new permanent home and gallery space at 9-11 Causeyside Street, Paisley PA1 1UW.

The organisers are looking for entries which includes painting, drawing, photography, textiles, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, installation art, digital, film, video and sound.
Closing date for entries is 31st May 2026.
This Stroke Awareness Month, the Stroke Association is asking for help to raise awareness of the impact of stroke and Make May Purple.

Every year, more than 10,000 Scottish residents have a stroke and around 150,000 Scots are living with the impact of the condition. It is estimated that half of Scottish adults have a close personal connection to stroke, either having had one themselves or seen family or friends affected.
