Renfrewshire ADP - Connected and Caring at Christmas
Every year the Renfrewshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP) runs at campaign at Christmas called ‘Connected and Caring at Christmas’.
The main aim of the campaign is to provide vulnerable people in Renfrewshire who are using alcohol and drugs with information on local services that can support them through what can be a difficult time of year.
In previous years, the ADP has held stalls in local areas within Renfrewshire and have provided local people with information around services and events that are taking place over the festive period.
However, this year we are looking to do something different and reach people in communities more directly.
The ADP is looking to go in to communities, a date to be confirmed, in December and speak with local shops about the campaign. This will include the distribution of materials with information on the services that are available over the Christmas period and hopefully the training of shop owners and staff in the use of Naloxone.
A working group has already been set up with the aim of planning out locations to visit and are looking for anyone who is interested to join and assist in delivering the campaign.
We would be particularly keen for anyone who has knowledge of specific areas in Renfrewshire that they feel could benefit from this campaign to take part and inform the work that we will be undertaking.
Meetings take place online every Wednesday at 2pm for 30 to 45 minutes.
If you are interested in helping or feel you could assist in any way, please contact the ADP’s Senior Communications Officer, Calum Fisher using any of the details below:

This webinar is for strategic thinkers who are interested in the role of peer support in early intervention. It will focus on peer–led support as an early intervention approach to helping people stay mentally well and what these types of services can look like in practice.
Wendy Callander, Executive Director at Wellbeing Works, a local charity in Dundee, will be sharing learning from the one-to-one support, and group activities they provide to promote mental health and wellbeing. We’ll also be hearing from Penumbra’s successful South Angus Peer Support Service, who operate out of three GP surgeries and provide over 100 peer-led appointments a week. Join us for this chance to hear about innovative approaches that are providing alternatives to an overwhelmed, medical focused mental health system. Sixty minutes of ideas and inspiration to kick start your day!

A Good Thing
A Good Thing CIC: we are a non-profit online platform that connects charities right across the UK with businesses that have things to give away. Anything and everything can be given away via our platform to local communities: from carpet tiles, laptops and brand-new branded water bottles to insulation, books and even a baby grand piano.
We've had some great success in various parts of the UK so far working with CVS organisations and other voluntary sector bodies. We would love you to help us to spread the word about our free platform to the organisations that you work with and support. We are sure they will find it useful!
In order to be notified about free items, a charitable cause would need to create a free account with us – this takes 30 seconds.
If you can think of any other local organisations that could also benefit from knowing about A Good Thing, please do feel free to send the link on.
