The SURE Fund
The SURE Fund is offering small grants (up to £20,000 each) to support community‑led projects that reduce alcohol and drug related harm, support recovery, and help build stronger, more connected communities.
SURE stands for Support. Understand. Recover. Empower and it's what we hope this fund will be all about.
We’re especially keen to hear about ideas that give people the chance to build new skills, try something different, volunteer, or simply connect with others. We’re also interested in creative approaches that engage young people, challenge stigma, and open up positive, honest conversations about alcohol and drugs.
Above all, we want to support activity that reduces harm, supports recovery and wellbeing, values lived and living experience, and helps create safer, stronger and more connected communities for the long term.
Surf Awards
A series of SURF Award Shared Learning Workshops will take place on the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th May.

The 4 workshops are now open for bookings:
- Removing barriers to employability (7th May, Edinburgh)
- Housing led regeneration initiatives (14th May, Edinburgh)
- Place-based regeneration approaches (21st May, Govan)
- Taking a creative approach to regeneration (28th May, Glasgow)
All of the events are listed on the SURF website events page.
Scottish Recovery Network
Lived experience and peer support driving mental health transformation in Scotland
Scottish Recovery Network's new 10-year strategic plan, Catalysts for Change sets out their vision, role, and ambitions for reshaping Scotland’s mental health system over the next decade. It outlines how, through collaboration, we can build a recovery-focused mental health system powered by lived experience and strengthened by peer support.
This represents a significant change in both thinking and practice. Achieving it will take ambition, persistence, and collective effort with lived experience leaders, allies, and system changemakers working together. While challenges are inevitable, they can be overcome to create a mental health system grounded in hope, connection, and recovery.
