Engage Update - 04 August
Is smoking a concern among the people you support?
Are you an organisation working with a community or group where you are seeing high levels of smoking or concerns about tobacco use?
Engage Renfrewshire's Health Development Officer can help. We can meet with your group to provide tailored advice, information and support to help you support the people you work with to stop smoking, improve their health, and save money.
Whether you are looking for support with awareness raising, or signposting to stop smoking services, we would be happy to hear from you.
Get in touch with Keely at kwilkinson@engagerenfrewshire.com to discuss how we can support your organisation and the people you work with.

We're delighted to share that the IN-Ren Newsy is now live on the website! We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this first edition of the Newsy. This publication is only possible because our members, partners and community organisations were willing to share their stories, experiences, creativity and achievements. Together, you've created something that truly reflects the diversity, collaboration and community spirit of IN-Ren. Read the full Newsy here
Grief and Neurodiversity training
Grief is experienced differently by everyone, and for neurodivergent people, including those with autism and ADHD, those experiences and expressions of grief may not always align with neurotypical expectations. Cruse Scotland’s Grief and Neurodiversity training draws on the insights of people with lived experience to explore these differences and provide practical strategies for offering more inclusive, compassionate, and effective support.
Whether you're looking to strengthen your therapeutic practice or broaden your understanding of grief, this course will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to support neurodivergent individuals with greater understanding and empathy. Join us for our next Grief and Neurodiversity training session on Friday 4 September.

Seedhill Road Safety
Following concerns raised by the local community that the speed and volume of traffic are making the roads feel unsafe, especially for vulnerable road users, the council is investigating the potential for improving the environment along Hawkhead Road, Seedhill Road, and the surrounding area.
The study area includes:
- Hawkhead Road between the A761 Glasgow Road and the A762 Barrhead Road/Hurlet Road.
- Seedhill Road between Hawkhead Road and A762 Mill Street.
- Connecting routes between Seedhill Road and A761 Glasgow Road, including Kilnside Road and Lacy Street.
- Enhance accessibility for all users of all abilities
- Increase connectivity between local communities, services, and amenities
- Encourage active travel journeys for everyday trips
- Improve safety for all users along Hawkhead Road and Seedhill Road corridors
- Improve safety along routes to school in the study area
Have Your Say
We are keen to hear your views and local insights. In particular, we would welcome any comments on:
- Locations where transport or road safety issues are experienced.
- Challenges faced by residents, pedestrians, cyclists, public transport users and other road users.
- Opportunities to improve connectivity, accessibility and safety within the study area.
The survey will be available online until 16 August 2026 and can be accessed via the link: https://tinyurl.com/HawkheadCorridorStudy
