Childcare Worker
The successful candidate will have SCQF Level 7 SVQ Social Services Children and Young People/ equivalent or be working towards a relevant qualification.
The ability to work as part of the childcare team to plan, complete relevant paperwork and deliver a range of activities for children in their early years is essential for this post. This requires good communication skills and a working knowledge of Curriuclum for Excellence, Pre-birth to three and Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) Wellbeing Indicators.
 

 

Barnardo's Works Upcoming STEP2WORK Programme- April '26

STEP2WORK is an 8-week programme, 4 days per week, Mon-Thurs, 4 training weeks, 3 work placement weeks ending with another training week to discuss and prep next steps.
 
STEP2WORK is aimed for young people who are…

  • 16-19yrs
  • Have a Renfrewshire postcode
  • Are close to or work ready
  • Must have an open bank account
  • Required ID such as evidence of right to work in UK, evidence of P.O.A, photographic ID
  • NI Number
  • Must be able to attend 4 consistent days of training per week
  • Be willing and able to undertake a 3-week work placement with an employer within their wanted industry or possibly out with their number one career choice (aim to gain transferable skills, build upon confidence, additional work experience for CV etc.)
  • Need to be willing to work within peer group of up to 10 young people.
  • Need to be confident in using public transport- travel to Abercorn Street in Paisley specifically.
  • Ideally be available for a possible pre-programme chat with Project Worker 01 or 02 April

 
If you are supporting a young person who you feel would benefit from taking part in this programme, we ask all external referrers to send me over the young person’s full name, best contact number, age and what career interests the young person has.
 
I will then contact the young person to schedule a wee pre-programme chat at our Abercorn Street office
