What do you do within the organisation?

I manage the Community Link Team which is a small team aiming to connect community groups and partners with the wider work of the HSCP.  I am also involved in strategic planning activity within the HSCP and chair a number of groups including the Growing Grounds Forum and the Creative Forum of the Scottish Mental Health arts Festival.

Organisation aims/accomplishments & which communities your organisation is empowering

My team have developed ALISS for Renfrewshire, which is an information portal designed to make it easy for people to find out what supports/groups/resources are available in their local area.  We’re now promoting this widely to staff, service users, community groups and the general public.

The Growing Grounds Forum brings together a wide variety of community growing organisations and has hugely increased the number of growing spaces across Renfrewshire over the last 10 years by enabling the sharing of expertise/knowledge and the empowerment of local people to identify, plan and develop their own spaces. 

The Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival takes place in May each year (formerly October) and Renfrewshire hosts the biggest programme of events outwith Edinburgh and Glasgow.  The Festival aims to provide a platform for people with a lived experience of mental health issues to take part in creative activity or showcase their creative work, as well as reducing stigma and providing opportunities for conversations about mental health and the role of creativity in recovery.  In 2019 the Renfrewshire Festival engaged over 2000 people. 

The HSCP in general provides a range of services for older people, people with learning disabilities, mental health issues and addictions, and health services for children and young people.
