IN-Ren Black History Month 2023 Celebrated

Black History Month (BHM) is a celebration which recognises the achievements and contributions of people of diverse heritage around the world. In partnership with The National Lottery, Engage Renfrewshire and the IN-Ren Network a grant opportunity was created to bring these celebrations to life for Renfrewshire’s grassroots organisations.

The aim of this grant was to increase anti-racism and integration activity within the Renfrewshire community by supporting and encouraging community activity to celebrate Black History Month 2023, providing opportunities to celebrate and creating new relationships between people from ethnically diverse backgrounds and local groups.

Discover Digital Workshops

The workshops will include information on free and trusted tools and resources for health and wellbeing. For example, a clinically proven app for better sleep.
This series will be part of a collaboration between the ALLIANCE’s Discover Digital project and the Digital Citizen Panel (DCP). The sessions will be co-designed with members of the DCP, with the aim of increasing the overall digital health awareness of the DCP.
The first workshop will be on Thursday 1 February 2024, 6-730pm, and held on Zoom. This first workshop will launch the series, so will look a little different from the rest.
We will be holding three further workshops on these dates, which will go a little more in depth into the tools. These sessions will be similar to each other, so no need to attend them all.

  • Thursday 15 Feb 10-1130am
  • Thursday 14 March 6-730pm
  • Thursday 11 April 10-1130am

To sign up, or request further information, email dhcscot@alliance-scotland.org.uk or call 0141 404 0231. If you have accessibility requirements, please let us know at least seven days prior to the sessions.

Bridging the Gap

The Big Collaboration - 06 February

A not-to-be-missed date for your diary: 06 February, 12.15–13.45.

Where changemakers get together to learn and inspire each other

Following Race Equality Week 2023:

  • 93% said they would recommend the Big Collaboration.
  • 86% of those with the authority to said they would implement something they had learnt.

The theme for the 2nd Big Collaboration is: How can we get everyone to #ListenActChange?

There are 3 key things that create change:

  1. Organisations moving from words to action.
  2. Leaders and managers driving change and being accountable and engaged.
  3. Allies becoming active.

One of the biggest issues that ethnically diverse employees face at work is racial microaggressions.

In 2022, 83% said they had experienced microaggressions and in 2023 84% said they had.

During this event we will explore a brand-new solution #ItsNotMicro.

We will also explore how organisations can use #ItsNotMicro to tackle microaggressions by getting everyone to #ListenActChange.

It will be different to other REM Events, in that the collaboration breakout sessions will be extended to allow for, 12-15 minutes, instead of the usual, 7-8 minutes.
Join this free virtual event, and you will:

• Hear from expert speakers who have effectively delivered successful outcomes for change.
• Directly interact with like-minded people with the same purpose in bespoke virtual break-out rooms.
• Gain new insights and keep up-to-date with effective solutions.
• Hear how to drive change.
• Be a #ChangeMaker to help accelerate change by sharing what you know works.
• Make new connections.
In this event you will be joining organisations such as DHL, Balfour Beatty, BBC, Aston Villa FC, PwC, NHBC, National Trust, NHS, Haleon and hundreds more.

Expert speakers include:

  • Natalie Quilter and Jerome Rock, Notting Hill Genesis Housing
  • Chelsey Sprong and Jeffrey Crawford, Beazley (An REM Trailblazer)

Register today; event attendees will have exclusive access to 50+ insights and ideas collated from the event.
