Wellbeing in the voluntary sector - 30 April

Tuesday 30 April 2024 | 11:00am to 12.00pm | Online via Zoom

Overall aim
SCVO want to bring charity staff together to discuss how the current difficult operating environment for our sector is impacting the wellbeing of our staff.

Description
Since the pandemic, there has been an increased focus on understanding how wellbeing has been impacted in the workplace by disruption and changes to services. This is felt acutely in the voluntary sector, where budgets are particularly stretched, and capacity can be difficult to manage.
SCVO are interested in understanding what the impact of the current operating environment has been on those working within the sector. To that end, we want to have an open conversation with people across the sector to explore what wellbeing means to us and where it sits as a priority for the sector.

National Youth Work Conference

This year’s National Youth Work Conference will take place on Tuesday 05 November in Glasgow, where Youth Link Scotland will be examining how youth work’s early interventions not only mend but prevent fractures in our communities.

They’ll explore how youth work’s ‘upstream’ approach can build resilience, develop skills, promote healthy lifestyles – and ultimately change lives for the better.

At its core, youth work is prevention. Research shows that investing in youth work leads to significant improvements in mental health and wellbeing, reduces youth offending, and boosts educational attainment – making significant cost savings to the public purse. Continued investment in youth work can ease pressure on future budgets and equip young people with the skills and confidence they need for life.
