Work placements for pupils
Gateway are a public sector, not-for-profit consortium of ten local authorities in Scotland. Gateway supply Scottish schools with Workit, a database that matches young people with employers offering work placements. Workit is used by the majority of local authorities across Scotland.

Post-pandemic the number of work placement opportunities for Scottish young people has dropped significantly and in particular, it is predicted that some of the biggest skills shortages in Scotland by 2035 will be in social care, construction, administration, and retail sales. We are looking for employers to work with us to develop the workforce of the future, could you support senior phase students by offering work placements?

Work placements are flexible and can be set over times and days that suit your group. It’s a very straightforward process that Gateway can support you with throughout. Offering work placements is a great opportunity for young people to build on their skills.
Your business could also benefit from identifying potential future employees, engaging with the local community, boosting reputation and staff development.

If you require any further information about providing a work placement please contact Gateway or visit the employer information page at www.workit.info/Employer/ or https://www.linkedin.com/company/91165785/
