Remode is all about promoting sustainable fashion.
We aim to raise awareness of the environmental impacts of the fashion and textiles industry and to share creative alternatives that inspire our communities to reduce the impacts of the clothes they wear.
From our shop on Paisley High Street we sell a range of upcycled and remoded clothing and hand-picked second hand items. Members of the public can earn tokens to purchase second hand items by donating unwanted clothes and fabrics to us.
In different times we ran an extensive programme of hands-on workshops teaching people how to mend, make and upcycle clothing, alongside events such as clothes swaps, fashion shows, film screenings and schools talks. We’re adapting to changing circumstances and have devised a blended programme of live and pre-recorded online activities accompanied by ‘make packs’ of fabrics to make sure people can still get involved with what we do. We’ve also re-opened some limited access to our workshop space in Paisley (see website for details).
We have a fantastic team of volunteers who have continued to engage with us since the start of the COVID crisis. Meeting weekly via zoom and working with make packs of discarded fabrics they have created some amazing items which come back to us and fly off the shelves in the shop.
Project Manager Jane Dixon says:
“I think what we all love about working for ReMode is engaging with people. It was great to be able to get back in the shop at the start of July and restart conversations with our customers. People seem to really appreciate that our message is overwhelmingly positive - and positivity is really needed at the moment! "
The ReMode shop on Paisley High Street is open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm. More information about how to get involved with Remode is available at www.remodeyouth.org
