Engage Daily Update - 20 August
Re-launching the Celebrating Renfrewshire – by young people, for young people 2021/2022 Fund
Celebrating Renfrewshire is a fund for young people, by young people. It is available for young people aged 12-25, and groups who work with young people this age, from across Renfrewshire who have an idea to make their community better for them. Schools are also eligible to apply via their parent councils, as long as the project benefits the wider community and not just the school.
The fund uses a Participatory Budgeting process (PB) which encourages young people and youth-led organisations to develop ideas for their community and apply for funding for that idea.
Young people across Renfrewshire will then be supported to vote for the project ideas which make Renfrewshire a better place for young people to live.
The Council has been working with a group of young people to design the funding process (please find updated funding guidance attached) and agree the priorities for this year.
- Youth Involvement & Participation
- Sport & Physical Activity
- Promoting positive mental health & wellbeing
- Employability & Youth Development
- New projects in response to Covid-19
The fund will be open for applications for 3 weeks between 18 August 2021 and 8 September 2021 (midnight).
Applicants can submit either a hard copy or an online version of the application form – whatever suits them better – and this year, young people and groups will also have the opportunity to add a 90 seconds video to the voting site explaining what their project idea is about.

Funding to Make Scotland’s Urban and Rural Communities More Sustainable
To help urban and rural communities to become more resilient and sustainable, the National Lottery Community Fund is awarding grants of between £5,000 and £1 million to enable voluntary, community and public sector organisations to take ownership of land and buildings.
Successful applicants will clearly demonstrate that their project will help their local community to:
- achieve more sustainable economic, environmental and/or social development through ownership of land and buildings
- have a stronger role in and control over their own development
- own well-managed, financially sustainable land and buildings.
