Unpaid carers and low-income families can now apply for new holiday voucher scheme – Daily Record
Thousands of unpaid carers or families on low-incomes who struggle to find the time or money to take a holiday can now apply for a subsidised short break stay in Scotland. VisitScotland’s ScotSpirit Holiday Voucher Scheme, funded by The Scottish Government, officially opened for applications earlier this week at Hampton By Hilton Edinburgh West, one of over 120 firms who have already signed up in support. Other businesses on board include leading hotel groups, B&Bs, hostels and some of Scotland’s popular visitor attractions. It is hoped around 2,500 carers and 500 families across the country will be able to benefit from the short breaks scheme.

In Renfrewshire there are currently 1,035 young people seeking employment . Numbers were at 1,505 in August 2020 compared with 810 in August 2019. While it's easy to see that COVID has had a significant impact on youth unemployment, in Renfrewshire we have also seen the highest decrease in youth unemployment thanks to implemented measures and effective partnership working. But there is still more to do.

You are invited to attend a one hour session on Wednesday 27 Oct at 11am-12pm on Teams, aimed at anyone delivering services for young people, employability practitioners and business leaders. You will hear from Invest and Engage about what’s available, when and for whom. We’ll cover:
• Young Person’s Guarantee (YPG) employer incentive scheme
• YPG portal
• YPG volunteering
• Saltire Awards

You’ll gain a better understanding of each of the current programmes, what they offer and how to get involved. Plus there’ll be an opportunity to ask questions of your own. Please register via Eventbrite https://tinyurl.com/rmr688r5 and a MS Teams link will be sent to you on Monday 25 October. For further info contact info@engagerenfrewshire.com

We look forward to welcoming you to the session.
