Funder of the Week
Our funder of the week is:- The Corra Foundation.
Corra Foundation exists to make a difference to the lives of people and communities. It works with others to encourage positive change, opportunity, fairness and growth of aspirations which improve quality of life.
Corra wants to see a society in which people create positive change and enjoy fulfilling lives.
In 2020 Corra launched a ten-year strategy. It is long term because making a difference on the big challenges will take time. At its heart is the strong belief that when people find their voice, they unlock the power to make change happen.
Since 1985 the foundation has distributed almost £193m and made nearly 24,000 grants to charities.
Corra has a number of grants that are currently open, to have a look at these go to:- https://www.corra.scot/grants/
One of those funds is:-
#ShiftThePower Coronavirus Response Fund. This has re-opened and will operate on a rolling basis closing once all funds have been allocated.
The #ShiftThePower Coronavirus Response Fund will help grassroots organisations in Scotland to support vulnerable individuals, families, and communities, including coping with the impacts of Coronavirus.
The Fund will support projects that are community and people led – organisations can include project and core costs. You can also include costs associated with adapting your working practises to public health guidelines for Coronavirus such as professional cleaning services and buying PPE equipment. We Are With You - Over 50s Alcohol Helpline
The alcohol, drug and mental health charity With You recently commissioned a poll that found 1 in 2 adults aged over 50 are drinking at a level that could cause them health problems now, or in the future. The poll also found more than four million adults aged over 50s are binge drinking at least once a week during lockdown. In this population factors such as retirement, bereavement, isolation and loss of sense of purpose can lead to increased alcohol use and this may be exacerbated by the pandemic.
In response, With You has launched an over 50s Alcohol Helpline providing support and advice to individuals aged over 50 worried about their drinking, and their concerned others. This will be available 7 days a week; Monday to Friday at 12pm - 8pm and 10am to 4pm at weekends. The number is 0808 801 0750. The helpline is supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.
If you can help promote the helpline it would be much appreciated. This could be sharing the number on your website, or directing people to the With You website
where there is also an over 50s alcohol health check
