COP26 - Darkwood Crew

As COP26 continues so too does our focus on local groups in Renfrewshire tackling climate change. Today we highlight Darkwood Crew, who have gone from strength to strength in their short time. 

Established in October 2018 to regenerate the local village green the group have gone on to identify 5 key focus areas including food insecurity, fuel poverty, isolation & loneliness, mental health positivity and the local environment and have managed to successfully weave the climate change emergency into all aspects of their work.

Inspired by COP26 event in Glasgow in November 2021, we have put together a list of potential grant funding opportunities available to voluntary organisations for environmental projects and causes. This is not a comprehensive list, more an overview of the main funders we would say to have a look at.
Cycling UK: Shift grant funding Grants up to £800 with development support are available to voluntary groups, charities and businesses to help more people in your community to cycle for short everyday journeys and/or to trial e-cargo bikes. Apply any time before February 2022. https://www.cyclinguk.org/shift

DPD Eco Fund Grants up to £2,000 are available to community groups, educational facilities and start-up companies for local projects that benefit the environment. Apply any time. https://green.dpd.co.uk/
