Scottish Government - Economy Recovery Implementation Plan
Please find attached the Scottish Government’s ‘Economic Recovery Implementation Plan’.
The document notes a range of points linked to the third sector – in particular Page 24 sets out:
- The third sector is a major contributor to the delivery of our national outcomes as well as contributing more than £6 billion a year to the Scottish economy.
- The Scottish Government is currently consulting with the sector on a new Third Sector Recovery Fund designed to help the sector adapt and contribute to the recovery. This will build upon the experience gained during the crisis of close partnership working between the Scottish Government, third sector and funders to address immediate need. Specifically, the Third Sector Resilience Fund has provided over £22 million financial support and advice to third sector organisations who would otherwise have succumbed to income and cash flow issues now and in the immediate future. Through our prompt action, we have saved up to 15,000 jobs and financial analysis suggests that this investment has saved between £72 million – £145 million in tax receipts.
- Going forward, we will develop new forms of social investment and explore the potential for more financial transactions to build upon Scotland’s world leading position in social enterprise.
- Our programme to address the barriers facing the sector will be backed up with a new Partnership Agreement between the Scottish Government, Local Government and the Third Sector.
We re-make our commitment here to longer term funding and are ambitious to see a new partnership address challenges of the Third Sector.
New Volunteer Blog
Our last ReMode post (Kite's - read it here if you haven't already!) had a great response so we thought we would share another of ReMode's brilliant volunteers!
Indie joined ReMode in the Autumn of 2019 and they quickly became one of the team. Indie is a multi-talented contemporary artist whose work usually takes the form of socially inclusive/focused/engaged installation. Their recent work has been about trans and queer discourse and that in relation to creativity. Read their story here
