support more people to access health services, education, and employment.
Kind support from The National Lottery Community Fund has resulted in 2 years funding for a New Buddies Network Officer, based at Engage Renfrewshire.
Need for the post was evidenced through the significant rise in the ethnic diversity of Renfrewshire over the last 10 years, and additionally through collaborative working between local partners, who are committed to supporting inclusive activities and equitable access to services for minority communities.
Urgent demands on the New Buddies Network Officer post have been focussed on responding to the Covid19 pandemic and in particular supporting new and existing ethnic community groups to access emergency funding, food provision, digital training, using creativity in recovery, and other support.
As we move into 2021 there will be focus on working with Renfrewshire’s African-Caribbean, Polish/Eastern European, Chinese, Syrian and Asian communities in the areas of health, learning/education, employment and social/community cohesion.
Objectives within these priority areas will be delivered through various partnership collaborations to ensure improved access to information, translation services, health engagement, employability initiatives, and learning opportunities.
