Community Asset Transfer Workshop
14/06/2021
2.30pm - 4pm
Are you a community organisation in Renfrewshire interested in using local land or buildings to achieve positive community benefit? (Community Asset Transfer, CAT) Then this 90 minute workshop could be for you.
Working with Engage, the Community Ownership Support Service (COSS) is hosting this event for groups in Renfrewshire interested in how local land and buildings can be used to achieve a range of benefits for local organisations and people living in your communities.
Some of the key questions groups ask – how do I get started? How do I build our confidence to do what we want? What legal relationship best allows us to achieve our aims? – will be addressed here.
The workshop will specifically focus on the range of options available to groups to get involved – from management agreement and leases through to outright ownership. In the workshop you will hear about the options available to groups like your own and be better placed to seek the form of community involvement that best suits you and your members.
You will hear from:
David Henderson and Elspeth Mathieson of COSS WHO will talk about;
- Community rights
- Different legal forms that groups can use to put land and buildings to use
- Overview of pilot projects in terms of re-using land and, in particular, community growing projects.
There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion during the workshop.
