JOB TITLE: Funding and Organisation Development Officer
RESPONSIBLE TO: Community & Partnership Manager
SALARY: - £33,213.00
WORKING HOURS: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, 35hrs p/w
Job Purpose
The job can be seen as a community engager, and the post holder will support groups to develop within their local areas. Your work at Engage Renfrewshire will encourage local people to work together to make change happen in their communities.
You will strengthen the voluntary sector in Renfrewshire by increasing the capacity of Engage Renfrewshire members through; supporting governance and organisational development, designing and delivering a training calendar, and advising on diverse funding streams.
Main duties
- To support groups and organisations with organisational structures, governance and development issues, including charity setup and/or structural change
- To develop and deliver a calendar of relevant information, training, networking and other opportunities, which will build capacity and strengthen the sector locally
- To continually monitor, evaluate, and anticipate the needs of the sector in terms of funding and organisational development, and to find new and innovative ways to respond effectively to changing need
- To manage a budget, ensure that training providers are delivering to a high standard, and to continually monitor and evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of all sessions
- To deliver short training courses/info sessions on relevant agendas
- To share information of voluntary funding particularly trusts and grants, crowdfunding and other income generation opportunities
- To work with partners to identify and promote opportunities for collaborative working, and continually explore new ways of bringing income to the sector
- To understand and advise Third Sector organisations regards local fundraising, meeting income targets and generating donations from a variety of sources
- To advise Third Sector organisations on good practice relating to evidencing their impact and good financial record keeping
- To work with local and national bodies supporting funding and organisational development
- To work with and signpost to other CAVA officers particularly for volunteering, racial equality, social enterprise development and community wellbeing
- To support Local Partnerships and relevant sub-groups with the aim of strengthening communities
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
It is in the nature of the work of Engage Renfrewshire that tasks and responsibilities are often unpredictable and varied.
You will support a wide range of local organisations including those delivering youth work, community-based adult learning, family learning & community development. Previous experience of working with a diverse range of communities is welcome.
All staff are expected to work in a flexible way when occasionally tasks arise which are not specifically covered by a job description. These additional tasks will normally be to cover unforeseen circumstances of changes in work or emerging local agendas and will normally be compatible with the job-holder’s regular area of work or previous experience. If the additional duties become a regular or frequent part of the jobholder’s duties it may be included in their job description in consultation with the member of staff.
Typical working hours are 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday but occasional evening and weekend work will be required to attend community based meetings and events or to meet with volunteer led groups.

Experience of supporting groups facing change management challenges (D)

Knowledge of charity setup, organisational structures, and charity governance (E)
Understanding of legal requirements and best practice within voluntary sector (E)
Knowledge of Trust/Grant funding and other voluntary income generation (D)
