Social Enterprise - Iain's perspective
16/11/2021 (Staff Post - Iain Cunningham )
As we slowly emerge from the pandemic and continue to deal with restrictions, Social Enterprises have been cautiously reconnecting with their communities and client groups. The loss of income due to lack of face to face contact has all become very real to most across the sector, this at a time when communities were relying on them more than ever.
They have had to rethink their service delivery methods including going digital where possible, reprioritise their business plans, diversifying from original services, becoming smarter than ever before at making the most of existing resources, all while being ready to seize any new opportunities. Some have even given up office bases to make best use of dwindling reserves.
In Renfrewshire we have witnessed the resilience of the Social Enterprise sector utilising the Renfrewshire Social Enterprise network (RenSEN) to connect, communicate, share best practice and collaborate with each other where possible, creating new strategies for recovery one small step at a time.
I’m sure with this positive mind set the local SE’s will continue to recover and develop new opportunities as we head into 2022.
